I get Burning man, I really do. And I wanted to someday travel and be a part of it. But for some years now, I've been thinking about something else. It seems I'm not alone in this, at least not anymore, and I believe the time is ripe for this idea to become a reality.

What I'd really love to be a part of, is a festival that doesn't have to clean up everything and burn its art when it ends. Quite the contrary, I'd love to be part of an event that leaves something useful and meaningful behind. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Burning man doesn't, it really does! In the souls, hearts, bodies and minds of the people who participate in it. But the desert, still, remains a desert.

What if it left something behind for the good of the earth and mankind? What if it can breed something that grows life? What if it can breathe new life to the earth?

At Breating Land I see a place where thousands meet to learn, to work, to celebrate, to meditate, and to rest; a gathering that leaves behind a small stone. A recurring festival that repeats itself in the same location, and turns those stones into a castle; a settlement that grows and matures every time the festival comes to pass. A growing green city, a rubanised cell; a place where urban and rural are not separated spatially. A smart city where both dynamics feed from one and other in a productive and regenerative way.

At its core, I see a green school with children from all over the world; fairs, markets, concerts and artwork everywhere. But what takes my breath away, is that I see the possibility of a thriving and sustainable human settlement where people are learning and celebrating, working and nurturing; leaving dozens of ecological compound homes and productive greenhouses behind; all merging into a landscape that is surrounded by gardens, water, orchards, animals, and the feeling of home.
